Times
have changed and the winds have shifted, but the Palace
on Wheels cruises along in a unique style the kind only
the, Maharajas of yesteryear could have perpetuated and
enjoyed...
An extraordinary train for extraordinary people. A train
with historic charm and modern conveniences. A royal train
beckoning you to step aboard for a week of splendour. It
takes you a royal odyssey. Bringing alive theluxury of princely
travel of the age of the Raj, the Palace-On-Wheel has been
designed to suit modern needs with central air-conditioning,
soothing four channel music, interconnected telephones system
in the train, a separate pantry and lounge in each coach,
comfortable coupes with privacy of attached bathrooms, two
speciality restaurants - 'Maharaja' and 'Maharani', serving
exotic Indian, Continental and Rajasthani cuisine, a well
stocked bar, a reading and relaxing coach and friendly smiling
attendants serving you round the clock.
It's a journey worthy of kings. No wonder the experience
is labelled the Palace on Wheels. With its cream saloons,
embellished with intricate designs, chug through Rajasthan
on a journey through the former royal kingdoms of this state.
Once ruled by kings whose presence lingers on in forbidding
fortresses and fairytale palaces, now converted into museums,
hotels, and restaurants where retainers serve truly royal
repasts.
The 14 coaches of the Palace-On-Wheels with rich decor that
evokes the age of Rajput chivalry, are named after former
royal Rajput states -Kota, Jaipur, Udaipur, Jaisalmer, Jodhpur,
Bikaner, Alwar, Sirohi, Kishangarh, Bundi, Dungarpur, Bharatpur,
Jhalawar and Dholpur.
As most of the travelling is done at night, your days are
left free - for discovering the delights of Rajasthan.
